Suzanne Farley
Suzanne has been the Executive Director of Wellspring, Inc. since 2016. She also serves on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors and the Maine Alliance for Addiction and Mental Health Services.
Prior to moving Searsport, Maine, in 2008 Suzanne lived for 26 years in New Mexico where she served in several key leadership roles after being honored by the state of New Mexico as Early Childhood Teacher of the Year in the late 1980’s. From there, she led and developed several innovated childcare programs, most notably Cuidando Los Ninos, a program that developed comprehensive services for families experiencing homelessness. While there, Suzanne also served as the president of the Homeless Advocacy Coalition for the City of Albuquerque and was also appointed to serve on the city’s task force to develop affordable work-force housing before moving to Maine to accept a position with United Way of Eastern Maine in 2008 to lead the Born Learning Initiative; a strategy to encourage business leaders to invest in early childhood education.
Suzanne also spent a year with the Restorative Justice Project in Belfast, Maine, supporting volunteer Mentors who were assisting men who were transitioning from the State Prison to the community. She then returned to New Mexico from 2013-2015 to lead the First Judicial District’s CASA Program, which trained volunteers to advocate for children in the foster care system before returning once again to Maine and diving into the difficult, but gratifying, work of leading Wellspring, Inc. through the continuing Opioid Overdose Epidemic since 2016.
In her leisure time she is grows orchids, reads poetry and enjoys hiking and playing with her grandchildren and the family dogs. Her educational history includes an MA in Organizational Leadership, BA in Family Studies, and an AAS in Early Childhood Development.
