 OUTPATIENT ~

 Are you DEEP Certified?

No.

  • Do you offer evening IOP sessions?

No.

  • Do you offer childcare?

No.

  • Do you have a program less than your 4 to 6-month residential program?

No, not for residential treatment. We have a 5 to 7-day detox program as well as intensive outpatient counseling. 

  • Do you provide Medicated Assisted Treatment?

No.

  • Do you provide Case Management?

No, but we do have a list of resources we can provide to you.

  • What insurances do you take?

MaineCare. Otherwise, please reach out to your insurance company for services they would cover. 

  • What would I have to pay for services if I have no insurance and current not working?

We have a flat fee for assessments, etc. Unfortunately, at this time, we do not offer a free or sliding-fee program for IOP. 

  • How long is your program?

The program is 48 sessions or up to 16 weeks.

  • What other programs do you offer besides IOP?

We offer 1-1/2 hour group counseling or 1-hour individual counseling sessions.

  • Do you offer couples counseling?

No.

  • Do you offer family counseling?

No.

  • Do you offer an IOP for MH & SA?

No. Currently we do not offer a co-occurring program in IOP, only substance use.

  • Can I use medical marijuana while attending your program?

Yes. However, if you are in Drug Court or Family Recovery Court you cannot use medical marijuana. 

 

DETOX ~

 

  • Do you take MaineCare?

Yes. 

  • Do you take people with no insurance?

Yes. We do accept payment arrangements. If you have insurance other than MaineCare, we advise you to check with your insurance company if you are in network. Currently, we are in network with Beacon Insurance.

  • Do you taper off suboxone or methadone?

No, we will continue MAT services while you are here.   

  • Do you have a wait list?

No.  We currently have rolling admissions on a first come/first serve basis giving priority to pregnant females.

  • How do I get into detox?

Call daily to check on open admission slots and request a phone screening.

  • How many people are there?

New Horizons Detox Center is a 10-bed facility.

  • Do you have private rooms?

No.

  • How many people are in a room with me?

Rooms vary from 2-4 beds each. 

  • What is there to do all day?

There are two groups offered each day, three to four days a week outside resources come in for groups (NA, AA, etc.), you will have counselor and provider sessions, and there are three meals a day provided. We also offer activities, i.e., arts & crafts and a shared television room. 

  • Do you allow smoking?

Yes, but it is limited to scheduled cigarette breaks with staff. 

  • What is the program like?

We are a medically managed detox center to get help through your first five to seven days of detoxication. 

  • What other places are there?

We can provide you with a comprehensive list of all the detox facilities in the State of Maine. 

  • I am desperate, can you help me?

Yes. We can provide you with resources if we do not have availability, but strongly advise you to continue to call to check for openings.

  • Can I have my cell phone?

No. You will not have access to your phone until you are discharged, but you can use the house phone after 48 hours of admission.

  • Can I have visitors?

No. 

 

RESIDENTIAL ~

  • How long is the wait list?

It varies from 3-5 months, depending on turnover in the house.

  • How do I get on the wait list?

Your will have to complete and application and once we receive it  you will be scheduled for a phone screening to determine qualifications for the program.

  • Are there any beds available?

None are immediately available. You will be asked to complete the application and prescreening process and as beds become available the wait list will be utilized.  It is important you have an active number to be reached because we continue to call applicants on the wait list until someone is available and able to come in.    

  • Will I be sharing a room with other people?

Men’s House – Yes. Upon first admission you will be admitted to a 4-person room, and as you work the program will progress to a to a 2-person room, and eventually to a single room.  Infinity House – There are four single rooms for moms with children that walk. Otherwise, there are three in a room either without or with children that are not walking yet. Women’s House – Yes.  Upon first admission you will be admitted to a three-person room. As you work through the program, you will transition to a two-person room with its own bathroom. 

  • How long does a screening take?

30 to 45 minutes. 

  • I was there for two weeks last year, can I come back?

Yes. You will need to reapply, go through the screening process, and will be put on the wait list.  

  • How long after I’m here can I see my kids? Can they come visit me?

After the first seven-day probationary period, you can submit a request.  This will require permission from your counselor.   

  • Can family/loved ones visit me while I’m here?

Yes. After the first seven-day probationary period, you can submit a request.  This requires permission from your counselor and only approved family members can visit.   

  • Can I remain on Medicated Assisted Treatment while in residential treatment?

Yes.

  • Can I still attend outside 12-step meetings while in your program?

Yes, after the first seven-day probationary period.  At that point, you may go to meetings, but will need to be accompanied by a buddy during the first phase of your program.
