Bill Shook
Bill has a Bachelor’s in biology from Boston College and earned a Master’s in Bacteriology and Public Health Administration from the University of Massachusetts. He served as Director of Public Health for the City of Bangor from 1963 to 1984 and then went on to become the Assistant Director at the Maine Bureau of Health from 1984 to 1987. Additionally, Bill was the Environmental Compliance Manager at Sawyer Environmental for nine years beginning in 1987. In 1998, he became the Assistant to the Town Manager in Glenburn where he served until 2016 when he retired.
Bill is on the Wellspring and Bangor Halfway House Boards as well as having been on the Board of Corporators of Northern Light Health and other volunteer activities. He worked with Richard Whittemore and established the Bangor Halfway House as an incorporation in 1965, which began treatment in 1968 as the Men’s Halfway House. Currently, the Men’s Residential treatment program continues as part of Wellspring, Inc.
Bill’s pastimes have included woodworking and other handyman activities, golf, chorale and other music and literature.
