Jon Bowen
Dr. Jon Bowen and I am an Associate Professor of Mental Health & Human Services at the University of Maine at Augusta (UMA) who has just completed their ninth year of teaching full time. I consistently teach four to six courses each Fall & Spring semester, as well as three courses throughout the Summer Sessions across the Bangor, Augusta, and Orono Campuses. My qualitative research efforts are primarily focused on exploring aspects of the home-based counseling treatment modality such as provider preparedness, professional development, challenges, and gender specific experiences.
I have also been engaged in University Service, as I was a member of the Faculty Senate for six years. I have also provided University Service by way of being the co-chair of the Academic Assessment Committee which has remained active throughout the pandemic. I am a member of the Unhoused Action Committee on the UMA Bangor Campus charged with formulating a response to an unhoused tent city on our campus. In regard to community service, I partnered with the UMaine Institute of Medicine and Center of Aging to put on a mental health symposium that was free of charge and awarded contact hours to professional providers throughout the State of Maine. Finally, I have also maintained an active counseling licensure (LCPC) in the State of Maine for approximately 16 years.
