Leah Maxwell, LCSW, (she/her/hers) is a clinical social worker with more than 15 years of experience in residential and outpatient settings providing trauma informed co-occurring Mental Health and Substance Use treatment. She began teaching part-time at the University of Maine School of Social Work in 2010 and became the Internship Director in 2020. She teaches in the undergraduate and graduate programs and is responsible for the internship education for social work students. She is also an active member of several committees at the University including the SSW Equity Stewardship Team and the ELH Staff Council.

Leah joined the Wellspring Board in June of 2020. She is committed to reducing stigma around substance use, increasing access to harm reduction services and treatment, and supporting people, affected others, and communities in the recovery process.

In her spare time, Leah loves to be outdoors, and you can often find her at the lake with her dog and partner, swimming, boating, and gardening.
